Folk, roots en americana door Arhur Deighton & Paul van Vlodrop
Zondag 14 mei a.s. om 16.00 uur zijn ze weer terug in D’n Hiemel: Arthur Deighton & Paul van Vlodrop. Zij vormden samen eigenlijk de helft van Red Herring, de band 24 september 2022 te gast was in D’n Hiemel. Dat was een van de laatste optredens van die band als kwartet, maar met ingang. Van 2023 zullen de haringen nog in verschillende combinaties te horen en te zien zijn.

Repertoire
Arthur & Paul dus, 50% in aantal maar 100% Red Herring-stijl en kwaliteit: mooie ballads en uptempo songs afgewisseld met prachtig instrumentaal werk. Het repertoire is het best samen te vatten als ‘Folk, Roots & Americana’. Op het programma staan songs van door hun geliefde singer/songwriters als Steve Winwood, John Prine en James Taylor. Maar ook mooie bluegrass songs en -tunes en eigen werk (een paar mooie introspectieve songs van Arthur, en een transatlantische medley van Paul) komen voorbij, met de bijbehorende verhalen.
Arthur Deighton (gitaar, mandoline, banjo, zang) heeft voorafgaand aan Red Herring in veel verschillende combinaties muziek gemaakt, waaronder The Deighton Family – een Engelse folkgroep rond zijn stiefvader Dave Deighton die in de jaren ’80 en ’90 veel furore maakte in de Britse folkscene
Paul van Vlodrop (mandoline, gitaar, banjo, zang) is al vanaf eind jaren ’70 vooral actief als bluegrass muzikant en heeft daarmee een reputatie opgebouwd als een van Europa’s topmusici in dit genre. In de jaren ’80 en ’90 toerde hij met diverse Amerikaanse bluegrass artiesten van naam, waaronder Jim Eanes, Byron Berline en Chris Jones ().
De concerten van Roots Unlimited zijn mogelijk door Blues Maastricht / Jo Koopman, D'n Hiemel en bijdragen van Pop in Limburg en het Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds.

They will be back in D'n Hiemel on Sunday, May 14 at 4 p.m.: Arthur Deighton & Paul van Vlodrop. Together they actually formed half of Red Herring, the band was a guest in D'n Hiemel on September 24, 2022. That was one of the band's last performances as a quartet, but with effect. From 2023, the pegs will still be heard and seen in various combinations.
