Voor de tweede keer organiseerde Roots Unlimited een muzikale kerstviering: de Roots Xmas Experience. Barn & Belle, The Hot Buskers, Flinthill Souvenirs en The Blues Crew zorgden ervoor dat het publiek alvast in de Kerstsfeer kwam op zaterdag 16 december vanaf 19.00 uur in D’n Hiemel aan de Bernardusstraat in Maastricht. Naast delen van hun eigen repertoire gaan de bands ook gezamenlijk bijdragen aan het verhogen van de kerstsfeer.
Barn & Belle
Dit jaar bracht hun EP The Dead Don’t Dance en was het tweetal halve-finalist tijdens de International Blues Challenge 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Barn & Belle zijn: Lea Lomans (Vocals, Drums & Percussie) & Jesse Deledda (Vocals, Gitaren, Banjo).

The Hot Buskers
The Hot Buskers vermaakten de toehoorders met een uiterst aanstekelijke combinatie van roots, Americana, (alt.) country, folk en gospel met een snufje early jazz, western swing, blues. Authentiek en ongepolijst, traditioneel en modern, toegankelijk en origineel. En dat alles in een akoestische setting met een dame en vijf heren met afwisselende (samen)zang rondom één microfoon.

Flinthill Souvenirs & The Blues Crew
De naam houdt de herinnering levendig aan Flint Hill, North Carolina, is de geboorteplaats van Earl Scruggs, de grondlegger van de hedendaagse bluegrass. Souvenirs is een song van John Prine, een van de grote namen binnen de Americana-muziek. Akoestische bluegrass- en folk-pareltjes dus.

Ontstaan als bluessectie van het Roots Heritage Orchestra, een van de activiteiten van de Stichting Roots Unlimited uit Maastricht. Handelsmerk is authentieke, oude stijl / ol’ skool blues, variërend van akoestische country blues tot ingetogen elektrisch repertoire van recentere datum. Dus blues zoals die oorspronkelijk bedoeld was: direct – sprankelend – pakkend.
The Blues Crew won de BRUL-contest 2022 voor beste Limburgse blues- en rootsbands.

For the second time, Roots Unlimited is organizing a musical Christmas celebration: the Roots Xmas Experience. Barn & Belle
When thinking of the Americana & Roots duo Barn & Belle, think of close harmony accompanied by an arsenal of Country & Folk instruments. Washboard, Banjo, Dobro, Melodica and their 'Travellers Drum Machine' are all featured! Barn & Belle play a mix of Americana & Roots music, in which the chemistry between the two multi-instrumentalists plays a major role and contributes to the sound and appearance.
This year they released their EP The Dead Don't Dance and the pair were semi-finalists at the International Blues Challenge 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Hot Buskers
The Hot Buskers make an extremely infectious combination of roots, Americana, (alt.) country, folk and gospel with a pinch of early jazz, western swing and blues. Imelda May meets Steve Earle meets Hank Williams meets music history. Authentic and unpolished, traditional and modern, accessible and original. And all this in an acoustic setting with a lady and five gentlemen with alternating (together) singing around one microphone.

Flinthill Souvenirs
The name of this traditional string band is strongly linked to its repertoire. Flint Hill, North Carolina, is the birthplace of Earl Scruggs, the founder of contemporary bluegrass and the inventor of the signature way of playing banjo. Souvenirs is a song by John Prine, one of the big names in Americana music. Acoustic bluegrass and folk gems.

The Blues Crew
Originated as a blues section of the Roots Heritage Orchestra, one of the activities of the Roots Unlimited Foundation from Maastricht. Trademark is authentic, old style / ol' skool blues, ranging from acoustic country blues to subdued electric repertoire of more recent date. So blues as it was originally intended: direct – sparkling – catchy.
Last year The Blues Crew won the BRUL competition for the best Limburg blues and roots bands.
